British Boarding Experience

Boarding is a part of the foundation of Wycombe Abbey that is fundamental to our continued success. Attending the Summer Programme is a fantastic way to experience British boarding life. During their stay, Summer Programme students are encouraged to develop their independence, which empowers them to take greater control of their educational journey. With students attending our Summer Programme from across the globe, they will live and learn with peers from various cultures whilst enjoying the beauty that our site offers, nestled amongst 170 acres of conservation-listed grounds.

Home Away from Home

Our boarding environment nurtures students in a welcoming and safe environment where they can be flexible and creative, think critically and communicate ideas, work alone and in a team, and respect themselves and others. The Summer Programme has a culture that stimulates and inspires throughout the day, empowering students to achieve their best. Dedicated House staff ensure that each student is known, supported and respected as an individual. Given the nature of living on-site, students can enjoy a wealth of extra-curricular activities that balances the academic nature of the Summer Programme. Wellbeing at Wycombe Abbey is centred on the individual needs of the students.

The team looking after the students in the House will consist of one Matron and two House Parents. They will be the students’ port of call for anything related to living at Wycombe Abbey during the duration of the Summer Programme.

Benefits of boarding at the Wycombe Abbey Summer Programme:

  • Taking responsibility for yourself,
  • Being in an environment where trying new things is safe and encouraged,
  • Forming close friendships,

  • Receiving support and guidance from boarding staff,
  • Being part of a community.

Accommodation and Catering

Students live in our newest residential boarding houses, Pitt and Rubens. The accommodation offers bedrooms for two to four students, and every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The kitchens are well-equipped, and there are common areas for relaxing at the start and end of the day. The accommodation also benefits from outdoor space for the summer.

During their stay at Wycombe Abbey, students are provided with all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner in our main school dining room along with nutritional snacks throughout the day. Packed lunches are available for excursion days. Our caterers are able to cater for dietary requirements and ensure that all meals are healthy and nutritious.’ A typical menu is below.
